I got a new job… :D

Turns out I’ve been working full-time the past few weeks at a local TV station called My50-TV.

It’s been fun because I get to come up with script ideas, edit, shoot, be creative, and get paid for it. Whoa.

Most of our stuff involves going around town to promote businesses with a host, aka “VJ”, who does all the talking and interviewing for 20-60 second segments between TV shows.

For 2012, we have been auditioning for a new VJ, and came across Dominic, a very funny chap from England. Unfortunately, he will not be the next VJ (citizenship status), but he’s going to be the “Judge” who tries out the 3-4 VJ finalists throughout January.

We brainstormed up this bit together:

Josh did the voice over.

I’ve had all kinds of ideas for Dominic, and he’s had very slap-stick ideas for himself, but we’ll have to keep him tame and toned down for a little while as we “ease” him into the public eye. So I eased him in with a nice extreme close-up for his introduction.

Down I Go – Poseidon

I recently got a message from Ben Standage, which reminded me to check out his blog and youtube videos. He was my friend (most of the time) during the last couple of years I spent at UNM, then he quickly moved back to London continuing playing music with his old mates. We jammed at best a handful of times together, and I still wonder what could have happened if we formed something, anything, while he was out here. Instead I was too busy looking at the green grass that was in any other direction than where I or anyone else was standing. Sorry Ben.

Watch this music video made by director Adam Powell (who apparently has been teaming up with them over the last 5 years), for Ben’s band called Down I Go, a hardcore band who takes the best themes from mythology (including dinosaurs, planetary upheaval) and makes entire albums out of them.

Ultra Slow Motion Video

I got my camera (still/video) during the summer. Here’s some of the footage I’ve taken since then using the super slow-motion feature.

I think you might enjoy the surprising elasticity of Josh’s face-skin, as well as the repetitive slaps to various faces.

Coming Up With The Ultimate Facebook Status Update

11 days to 11/11/11 at 11:11 o’clock…

Earlier in the year…

11:11 is written about enough on here, but I figure all things will come to a head with me and my fun ol’ superstition that seems to be spreading to many other human beings!

I’ve had a lot of mini-synchronicities happening lately. For example, today moments after thinking about where my nalgene water bottle was, I saw a girl crossing the street in front of me with the same one in hand. Julia texted me at 11:11 to say that it was 11:11.

Not too significant you say?

I hope the next few days with all of my attention on 11:11 and looking for it, I will have some cool things to report.

After all, Bank of America seems to like this number a lot. Maybe 11/11/11 will be the day that the flimsy US banking system will collapse! Fun.

All superstitions aside, this is my life the past few months.

I created a mosaic video for my Grandma as a closer to a 30-minute 8mm film history video of her kids wishing her a happy 60th. She and Jack would have hit 60 years this month. (I will link the video after the family sees it)

I got a new job at an Audio Visual place. I mostly work at hotels, set up projector screens, PA systems, mics, and tape a lot of cable down so nobody trips.

I went to the ranch to zip line some more. Dusty and Ben were there, friends from 2005-2006. Here’s Josh in Dusty’s green man costume:

I was Brother James for Halloween. Julia, Sister Temple.

Also, got a cool shoutout for the video we made over a year ago…

Video – Zip Line Run

I finally made it to Josh’s ranch to go down the Zip Line that he and Kevin built together. It is close to 1200 feet long.

This is video of my second time going down, first time going head-first, superman-style.

I’m not sure how fast I went, but Josh has used GPS to clock speeds of almost 49 mph!

Julia, Josh, And Kevin Make Me A Birthday Video

While I was away in California, Julia passed a video camera around to my friends and had them give testimonials about me for my birthday, and edited it all together.

Josh and Kevin worked on their own separate section and uploaded it to youtube. It is laced with inside Jokes, so if you don’t get it, you probably don’t really know us very well, or about the videos we made together when I was 15, one of them using a My Buddy doll as the main character.

29

Today is my birthday. My original goal was to ride Josh and Kevin’s epic 1200 foot zip line, but plans changed.

I went out with my parents to walk my grandpa’s dog, Daisy Mae. She’s a one-eyed rescued chihuahua/pug mix.

I wanted to mark the day with something, because I like to remember previous birthdays.  During the walk I found this spot:

It was impossible for me to look at the beach and turn around and leave, so my parents left me at the beach while they drove around town to do other things.

The shoreline was further than I thought, so I ran as fast as I could to spend as much time close to the water as possible. At one moment a did an epic, hyper hip-kid leap over a log and kept running. Maybe I was influenced by this song and video that I’ve been obsessively watching/listening to on repeat since I’ve been out here.

It’s been a week since I arrived in Cali. Ceremony for Grandpa Jack is Friday.

Gif Animation: Boxcar Strainsun Test Shot

Before Will (AKA Boxcar Strainsun [AKA Riley Guy]) and I started shooting his music video, we did a test animation which most of the music video was based on.
